Good morning,

You can use this idiom your A Level and IB Chinese writing exam. Nothing of what follows is written by Artificial Intelligence.

He stands on the Jubilee Line, the luxury of movement having been stolen away by the firm elbows of his fellow travellers. Mercifully, foresight had told him to don his earphones milliseconds before slipping himself into the carriage.

Sliding a hand into his pocket, he blindly prods around the touchscreen in the hope of landing on the play button. After all, no matter how much the rigours of his job, the stresses of his life, and the disapproval of other adults all contrive to suppress his childish joys, his desire to have Spongebob Squarepants play loudly in his ears on the way to the office remains untouched.

Today was different.

Today, the bluetooth connection did not make it.

Today, his earphones did not keep his joys of SpongeBob SquarePants solely contained within his ear canals.

Today, his (new) phone (newly) equipped with (extra loud) speakers, joyfully played Spongebob Squarepants out loud.

Loudly.

His fellow passenger - as it turns out, his boss - looked at him and said, with a knowing, playful smile, “你真是童心未泯”.

童心未泯 - a child at heart

Professional Use: 她在严谨治学的同时保持童心未泯,这使她在创新方面表现突出。While maintaining academic rigor, she retains a childlike curiosity, which contributes to her strong creativity.

Foundation Use: 我喜欢去迪士尼乐园,算是童心未泯吧。I love going to Disneyland — I guess I’m still a kid at heart.

Origin: This 成语 gained currency in modern literary Chinese.
