• 1:1 Rates: £70-90/hour (reduction for 3+ hours per week)

These courses are designed for adults who want to improve their current Mandarin level or start learning from the beginning. These courses do not lead toward a specific exam, though students may wish to enroll in an exam in the future. All adult students (current and past) are warmly invited to attend Mandarin & Merlot, our monthly conversation group, free of charge. Students are also encouraged to read Mandarin Ambition, our weekly newsletter, for a lighthearted yet serious way to remember one Chinese idiom per week.

Courses Available

• Foundation: "I have never studied Mandarin before"

• Beginner: "I can introduce my colleagues and friends. I can discuss basic details abour their lives"

• Intermediate: "I can discuss the viewpoints and lifestyles of my friends and colleagues. I can negotiate (e.g. ask a higher salary / persuade my friends to come to a different restaurant to the one they'd planned)  and explain my reasoning for this. I can discuss business, politics and aspects of society. I can have a reasoned, structured debate."
